Humdifier
A humidifier is for making an area more damp.
Why would you want to make a bathroom more damp than it already is?
just put a wet towel or bowl of water over the radiator to humidify it

EEk..got that wrong..it is a box which collects condensation
a dehumidifier then.
Question Author
thank you bednobs...that is what I am looking for...the cistern tank gets a lot of condensation in during the winter and drips...so intend to get a really good ..dehumdifier.
Well, a cistern containing very cold water in Winter in the average bathroom is going to get condensate on it....unless it's made of some insulating material which doesn't feel cold to the touch. Those small capacity dehumidifiers are designed for small amounts of moisture in relatively confined spaces...they won't cope with the ever-damp atmosphere in the average bathroom. You really need to improve ventilation in the bathroom so that the moist air is removed...have you got an extractor fan fitted, for example?
Question Author
no extractor fan,but do have a window, however because this occurs when very cold,do not want it open.it is only the tank that has the condensation, not the mirrors etc.
Keep the door ajar?

The moisture in the air in the bathroom will condense on the coldest surfaces....in Winter. the water in your cistern (and therefore it's surface) could be about 6C whereas the mirror, tiles etc are the same temperature as the rest of the bathroom....22C perhaps (or warmer?). So, it's not surprising that the condensate appears on the cistern only.
And, I'd be surprised if a simple "absorption" dehumidifier made any noticeable difference.
The Builder will have ideas on this...probably involving better ventilation!
Only an extractor fan will solve this. In cold weather will not faciliate the removal of enough moisture to prevent condensation forming.
You can insulated cisterns (lined with polystyrene foam). Because they don't get so cold, they don't collect condensation.
i have an extractor fan but still get condensation on the cistern i put a small towel on the floor and change it everyday.
