Wasn't sure where to post this so CB it is!

My wedding photos are in one of those albums which have sticky pages with a plastic fold-over film to protect them. The album is very scruffy so I decided to put them in a new album, but they're stuck fast to the pages and when I try to pull one off, the back of the photo is staying where it is! Any ideas how I can remove the photos safely? Thanks

PS they've been in the album since 1973 so well and truly stuck:-(

You will need to be very careful here !

If these photos are well and truly stuck, than any attempt to remove them may damage the photo for good. Do you have other copies stored somewhere else ?

When this happened to me, I was left with no choice but to use a craft knife and carefully cut the photo out of the album, together with the backing as well.

Since then I have not been a fan of these "sticky" type of photo album
You could try placing a layer of baker's parchment paper over the photo and then place a medium hot iron on the paper. This should "melt" the bond. Do NOT use grease-proof paper.
As they are so precious (bet mine are stuck fast too) I'd leave them be and recover the album itself in a nice way.
Ignore my advice above ....much better suggestion from Mamy !
Yes and no damage to the pics and your album would be unique.
Just a thought, if you have the negatives you could get some new prints and put them in a new album.
You could take photos of the photos with a camera, and get them re printed.
Take em to a printers and get them scanned in high quality.
Have you got a scanner? Scan the photos in at as high a resolution as you can. Specialist photo shops and some office supply shops will also offer this service.
hello ZM!
