My late DH used to wear patra silk stuff under his biking leathers. Very warm and comfortable, cool in summer but quite fragile and needs handwashing.

What's wrong with M&S?? Pure silk now that is a luxury and what I say is, if you can afford it go for it.
I have never had these so cannot advise.

Patra's sizes are very odd. I bought stuff called "Small" and I could have got 2 of me in the T-shirts. I am usually a size 12, so not all that small.

Thank you for your responses. I have very sensitive skin and can only wear cotton. I find M&S thermals too irritating. I need either pure cotton or silk, which is why I'm asking about Patra.

Any recommendations for pure cotton?

Have you looked at John Lewis. I bought some silk under garments for my partner and they were pretty reasonable.

Tilly have you tried tencel? Its a natural fibre made from wood, very soft and comfortable with the same absorbent properties as cotton and silk.

I've got some old long-johns I don't use anymore, tilly. Say the word.

Thanks Woof. I'll look out for Tencel. I have not heard of that fibre.

All the bog standard thermals seem to be elastane and viscose.

I have found some silk thermals in John Lewis, thanks Melv.

I think I'll pass on the long johns, Svejk but thanks for the offer.
