Fridge-Freezer, Fridge Not Cooling
6 Answers
i have just got a new 'old' fridge-freezer.
it belonged to my auntie, and it worked when it was last used in her house - about 6 years ago. since then it has just been sitting in a back room.
however today, i plugged it in, lights, noises etc etc = but only the freezer part got cold ... but even that wasn't properly cold
the fridge was room temp.
ive set the thermostat to full, and that was hours ago - still no change
any ideas whats wrong?
it was a bit difficult to get up the stairs into the kitchen - could they have knocked something, on the back perhaps, that i need to check/adjust?
its an electrolux ER2650B or ER2651B
Thanks

Fridges work by having a gas in them which is compressed outside the fridge to make it liquid, becoming warm in the process. It then evaporates inside the fridge causing a cooling effect. If the fridge is moved the liquid/gas gets in the wrong part of the system and needs to be allowed to settle so that the liquid and gas are in the correct bits of the system. Leave it for a day and then try again. If it doesn't work then it may need re-gassing.
well, its now working! gave it a dusting etc, waited etc, and it works but now its making a lot of noise - not like the usual low kind of 'rattle' that most fridges have, but a loud rattle. its coming from the middle/bottom near the fan in the freezer.
its not the condenser or anything down there.
any ideas? will it settle?
