What About The Rabbits??

On the way out of town, at the bottom of the A23, there's a roundabout, inhabited by wild rabbits. No one knows how, or when, they got there. They probably can't get off the roundabout because of the traffic. The roundabout is covered in big bushes. They rabbits seem quite happy, hopping around after dusk. There's a local custom of throwing carrots out of your car window, on to the roundabout.
Everyone around here calls it the Rabbit Roundabout (naturally).
So I go away to stay with my BF for a while ... come home, go to get fuel at the Rabbit Roundabout petrol station ... and the roundabout has been stripped!! All the bushes have been ripped up, and there are work vehicles on the roundabout.
Which is all very well, but ...

The Rabbit Roundabout was the nearest thing Brighton had to a wildlife sanctuary.
