If you saw the 'Order Acknowledgement' screen immediately after placing your order, it probably got through. If you didn't (and, given that you've had no e-mail) then they've probably not received your order.
I ordered furniture on two occasions recently and each time Argos telephoned me the same day (in the evening) to confirm when the furniture would be delivered.I was very impressed with the service.

I've just tried phoning Argos. You can get through to a real person, rather than an automated service by calling 0870 600 8784. Then select option 2, followed by option 5.
They're open until 2200 today, then 0800-1700 Saturday, 0900-1700 Sunday.
