Out of all those I got a Lego set and a Rubik's Cube. Never had anything Star Wars related.
So did I, mikey. Did you have the Batmobile as well ?.
Meccano was my favourite but that's going back 60 years or more. And their still making and selling it!

I loved my Spirograph, Rubik's Cube and Sindy (definitely not Barbie). I don't know what the must-have toy this year is. I guess drones are the thing.
I still have lego... I never managed to solve rubics cube without cheating... I had many variations of Scalextric and other racing type toys... I did have the Batmobile, boat and helicopter. I loved 'em gosh that's taken me back.
I didn't receive any of those toys.
You can have a go with my Meccano set if you like, Yilly.
Do I have to use a screwdriver, Yont?
No, but you have to use small nuts and bolts. So use a small spanner.
O.K. Yont. Got it.

small spanner?
Awe... bless you tilly what did you have?

Tony, eldest Bro had macano but I wasn't allowed to touch it... to this day he doesn't know I did.
I'm off to look for a small spanner.

Don't blame you, Arky. Could build some great stuff with Meccano.

best of luck, Yilly.
I did Tony... I built allsorts those fiddly little nuts though they were a bit of a pain if you lost one... even being nibble fingered.
*nimble
Yeah, my mom's vac used to find those lost small nuts !.
Lol yeah rattling up the tube, not as easy to find as a wayward lego brick until you stepped on one.
"nibble fingered"
What's your nails like Ark?

Morning Tonyav....not heard from you for a while !

My next down brother had the Batmobile.

But the main aspect about those days, was that you probably had one of these at Xmas, but not all of them. If these were still available today. most kids I know will have them all !

My little great nephew, who is only 5, will have loads and loads of stuff at Xmas, mostly coming from his maternal grandparents, who spoil him terribly. He can't possibly play with them all. Last year he was unwrapping presents at a cracking pace, discarding each one immediately, and then moving on to the next.

The contrast to the 50's and 60's is that when I opened that Spirograph, it was played with straightaway.....mainly because, apart from some selection boxes and maybe a couple of books, it was my only present.

I don't know what to get him this year, I really don't. I don't really want to add to that mountain of wrapping paper, so I think it will be a book voucher from W H Smiths ( if they still do things like book vouchers ! )
