Just read the below thread about saffron (thanks jj) and it got me thinking about expensive ingredients and I remember reading about truffles which led me here

You must have an odd browser then! That video uses HTML5, which has now largely replaced Flash, so it should play on any modern browser.

Basically, TK says that truffle oil needs to be used sparingly (because it's got a very powerful flavour) but that it's great for enhancing the flavours of things like salads, scrambled eggs, mashed potato and soft polenta.
