Hi there just a quick update. I had my big toenail removed permanently this afternoon and I can honestly say it was really nothing compared to what I was afraid about. The chiropodists who did it were lovely and I took 10mg of diazepam 1 hour before but all the adrenaline I had over rid it a bit it didnt work until I got home and slept for 3 hours. The injection was nothing I had 3, the first 2 stung for about a minute, I can compare it to a bee sting I had the 3rd injection because the top left of the toe still had a bit of sensation, but I didnt feel it because it was numb by then. I closed my eyes through the whole thing and when I asked how it was going the nail was off and they were applying the phenol. I am going back on Friday to have it dressed. The anasthetic has worn off several hours ago and I have experience no pain. To anyone who is scared about having this done I was terrified and it was very bearable. Thanks to everyone for your help and encouragent

Good stuff xx
good man, I found it uncomfortable at worst and you pretty much the same. Things are seldom as bad as you expect.
Well done, encouraging to anyone in a similar situation.
glad it went ok and wasn't as bad as you thought it would be :)
Thanks for sharing that.......I might have to endure the same thing.....you have stopped me from worrying, thanks again.
Glad you got it over with. I guess it sounds much worse than it really is.
Well done Gordie! You can relax now.
Glad everything went OK.
Good news.

My OH has had both big toe nails off. The second was in May this year and only just stopped putting a dressing on it because it was bleeding a little from one corner. We suspected a small bit of nail got left behind but Chiropodist said it wasn't that.
He agrees with you its nowhere near as bad as you think its going to be.
