But the main problem has been not the cost, but the availability of a parking place. There have been many, many occasions. when I would willingly have spent twice as much, rather than spend another hour driving round in circles trying the find a free space.
If the Hospitals were to spend the money raised in providing more parking spaces, than I personally wouldn't have a problem. But they seem to see parking fees as a cash cow, in these days of continual cuts.

If Hospitals stop charging for parking, it just means there will be less money for something else. Like medical facilities. It is misleading to call the cash raised from parking charges a profit. No NHS hospital ever runs at a profit, it is just a way of making what money they get go further. Anyone who is disabled with a Blue Badge gets free parking anyway. Plus people who need long term treatment get discounts as do those who need to visit them.
