70Th Wedding Anniversary Cake
12 Answers
I am tasked with making a cake for my grandparents' 70th wedding anniversary.
Any ideas how I might decorate it? I didnt just want to do a 70 on it.
Only thing I can think of is that my grandmother saved her ration coupons so everyone could have a kit kat at the wedding reception so I might try and incorporate kit kats into the decoration (although cake has to be vanilla).
Any ideas, please? I did roses for their 65th but 70 is a bit special.

Some ideas here for you - instead of smarties use sweeties that were around 70 years ago?

Thanks Anne and Islay - I had a look at sweets from that era and it looked like an awful lot of faffing about. Although knowing how my grandparents hoard stuff, they've probably got some sweets from then!
I really like the Strawberry one Mamy, thanks. It looks relatively easy for someone like me to do as well. I mean how hard can it be to make all those kitkats stand up like that?!! (I imagine a little butter cream and a nice ribbon might do it). And it's smack in the middle of english strawberry season too.

How about a cake with sections for all the preceding main anniversaries, ruby, pearl, silver, golden, diamond etc. Topped with a box filled with kit Kats, If you do a bit of research you might be able to find an image of the period paper wrapper, copy and print it and replace the modern ones
Another option there are companies that put photographs onto a sugar disc to top a cake, If there is a photo of their wedding it might make a nice feature,
