Scalextric in the USA

My brother in-law who now lives in New York wants a Scalextric set for Christmas.

Will there be any issues regarding the power supply?

I know most electrical items needing a transformer these days will work (with a plug adaptor) on both 110v and 240v.

Does anyone know if this is the same for Scalextric power supplies?

I'd have some concerns about sending a UK-purchased Scalextric set to the USA. I think that there may well be problems with the different voltages.
