Good And Bad Places To Get Varifocle Lens Specs

Where would you recommend buying varifocle lens specs from....and is there anywhere that should be avoided?

It reinforces my fist post on this subject, where I pointed out that the chains are franchises, so are really completely independent shops, just selling Specsavers products. The atttitude f the particular branch is determined by the franchise holder.
I paid 400 quid for my last pair of varifocals from an independent optician as I had been disappointed with Specsavers in the nearest town.
Recently Specsavers opened a new branch in my local High Street so went there as the independent shop had closed and had excellent service. I do have a very complicated prescription though and need varifocals for wandering about in, reading glasses for close work and glasses for distance ,watching TV etc.They do vary as to who holds the franchise and the level of service you get.

Just thought I’d add this link for info purposes because I don’t want to see my fellow ABers paying any more of the eye-watering sums I’ve seen on some of the posts on this thread!
