M&s Refund Policy

I have been given an M&S jumper, no receipt but the tag is still attached. Not only is it the wrong size but I have it already! What are my chances of at least credit if I don't have the receipt?
I can't ask the giver, it's not worth making them feel bad, so that's not an option.

They may let you exchange it for a different colour and size but the same style/make.
If you want a refund/credit note I think they may offer only the current (maybe sale) price

You do not need a receipt as, by statute, they are not obliged to provide a receipt.

M&S offer "gift receipts" to purchasers of goods for someone else - the price paid is omitted. You could perhaps approach the giver, compliment them on their taste in jumpers and ask if they would mind you exchanging it as you already have that one; they may have a gift receipt they could give you.

Yeah, I see the logic but....the jumper is from my inlaws and was suggested to them by my husband! I've been wearing it loads in the last 3 months and he clearly didn't notice plus just about everything in my wardrobe is a 10 so why tell them to buy a 12?? Just not worth the hassle.

I see your problem, Prudie. PP has a point about shoplifting - perhaps wearing your own one when you visit M&S would add credibility to your situation.

I returned £200 of clothes with no receipt and was never questioned

I have returned in similar circs but was only refunded the sale price..not the price of purchase....
