Selling An Hermes Silk Scarf - Need A Valuation.
22 Answers
I haven't worn it for over 25 years. There are shops that sell secondhand ones but I don't want to use them as I will sell it myself, I think. Looked at hundreds but can't find one the same as mine although I did find a picture of it. Unfortunately I don't have the box as I thought I'd lost the scarf so threw the box away. Then I found the scarf stuck between two drawers;-(
Other than phoning the Hermes shop, has anyone any idea where I can get an idea of its worth? I've seen them selling from below £100 to nearly £1k so it's not easy.

Let's say that you have a Wedgwood cup and saucer for sale, and these items have the design of tortoise-shell coloured Maine coon cats on them. A person who collects Wedgwood pottery might make an offer; a person who collects pottery depicting cats would raise the offer; a person who collects Wedgwood pottery depicting cats would raise it again; a person who collects Wedgwood pottery depicting Maine coon cats would go higher; a person collecting Wedgwood pottery showing tortoise-shell Maine coon cats would go even higher; and a person who needs that particular cup and saucer to complete a collection of Wedgwood tortoise-shell Maine coon cats would go way higher...You just never know what drives people to make offers.
Try flogit if it comes to town, or look for scarf collectors, sadly out of my range, but the things that add value are the number of colours in the design, and if it's design relaged to a specific event. The coach and saddlery designs are most common but even they have rare colourways. There might be Hermes collectors out there, if you post animate I might be able to find out more.
Thank you bednobs, sanmac and rowan for your answers.
I've found a rather nice shop that sells secondhand designer stuff near to me so I think I'll have a wander down there and have a chat with them before I make a decision. Rowan, thank you for your offer to find out more but I'd rather not put a picture on here. Sorry.

Have you tried this site, brilliant for obscure vintage,

Not that particular site Rowan but many like it. Spent hours looking. This one wants you to sign up before you can get size details etc from each product but I'll spend a little while having a look. I know the name of my scarf; I wish I could input it and get an answer. What do you think about phoning Hermes? Nothing in it for them of course.
Whack on ebay start bid at £150 minimum
Worst case scenario it doesn't sell, second worst case is you get £150
It's very hard with items like this.. As said above things are only worth as much as someones willing to pay. Also, just because something is rare, doesn't mean it's worth anything. So getting a solid evaluation will be hard.
I have a stussy sweater i paid £100 for. I can't find it online, still to this day, not even a photo, so sometimes i question it's value, however, it's probably next to nothing.
I'd rather keep it than sell it on anyhow.

The silk used to make an Hermes scarf is twice as heavy as any other silk apparently.
Loved the video Mamya, thank you. If the colours suited me I might think of keeping it after watching that, but they don't.
At least I have found my scarf on here and found who designed it. Gosh there sure are a lot of scarves.

My son bought my wife one some years ago, it came as they do in a smart orange box, the first time she wore it we went to an Oxfordshire pub and she left it over the back of her chair, realising what she had done we drove back the next lunchtime hoping to retrieve it.
Was it there? was it .........!
