If you shop at Aldi I would urge you to check your receipt. On two separate occasions in the last three days their scanner as scanned an item twice, their scanners seem to be far superior and very sensitive to achieve speed at the checkout. The first time it happened on Sunday I didn't check until I got outside, a box of almond tarts at £2.49 cost me £4.98.
I went back in, only to have to stand in a long queue, as they have no service desk, got my refund, with a few dark looks off customers and the till operator for the hold up I was creating, and informed by the till operator that it does sometimes happen if the scanner picks the bar code up at the begging of the swipe, then again half way through.
Yesterday it happened again different store, but I picked it up as it happened, the till operator didn't ( LOOK OUT) Zap down your receipt you will soon see the double item together.
Emmie...Tesco are brilliant. I bought a joint of beef with 4+ day shelf life. Bunged it in the fridge, as you do, when I took it out the next day it was out of date. They refunded me and it only took 1 email.
Another old ploy in shops is prices on shelves show reduced to say 1.20 but when your item goes though till it is scanned at old price i have had to the speak to the counter staff about this lots of times .
Tesco give you a shelf life for their products. I bought a joint of beef with a 4 day shelf life. The day it was delivered was the day it went out of date but I didn't know because I assumed it had a few days.
It may be more of a problem at Aldi because they have these special extra-long barcodes on many items (so that items can be whizzed through scanners quickly at any angle).
Here's a good one :0) walked into B&M and in their dumpster near the door were Toffifee £1.50 per box, or 2 for £2, walked further down to the sweet shelves, the same size / same amount £1 per box. :0)
