I want it mainly for nocturnal activities as I can hear creatures moving about after dark. Suggestions of the features I need to look for would be helpful. What I do know is I want the clearest night time vision I can get and for it to be waterproof. My garden is not very big, roughly 3.5 fence panels across the top and each side coming down. I'd like to see the Hhogs I feed on the patio area but can I get a camera that will cover a bigger area that that? All suggestions welcome.

GoPro is an established favourite.

I have an Apeman H70 (don't know if they make that particular model anymore) but Apeman cameras are good.
I have a GoPro and the quality is excellent but I wouldn't recommend it for this. It has no zoom facility so you capture a wide field of vision and then you need really faffy software to even look at your pictures, never mind edit them. I've never tried it at night, are they good for night vision? I have an excellent night photo setting on my phone as it happens.
I got a crenova one and am really pleased with it. Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Thank you, all of you. I don't know what the figures mean. For instance on Woofy's it says //20MP 1080P and 47 pcs 940nm IR LEDs and IP66 \\ whereas Barry's says 16MP 1080P. What's the difference?
Both of those get excellent reviews. Those prices are cheaper than I thought.
Question Author
Prudie I definitely don't want "faffy software".
The 20mp will have more.definition
Mine are from Lidl

Some videos

20mp - thats the maximum resolution of the photos

1080p is the resolution of the videos.

I think I have mine set to 720p - purely to get more on the memory card. Most cameras come with a 4 or 8gb card. I use 32gb cards.

I haven't looked at the links on here - but I would go for one that has three sensors rather than just one sensor - that gives you more areas that trigger the camera.

Will have a look in a minute....
Of the 2 suggested I'd go for the Crenova - thats the one with 3 sensors.

Thank you Tuvok. Will I be able to watch it on the TV?
I'll have a look at your link now.
237 thank you. Can I get higher than 20mp? I don't mind paying more.
20mp is a high resolution.

I wouldn't worry about paying for too a definition. You just want something with a decent range if you just want to use it in your garden.
I meant too "high" a definition (sorry, laptop has died and I'm typing with two fingers on Android which I hate doing)

The vids are lovely thank you. I didn't realise they ate so fast. Was it bats that few through a couple of times? Mine always seem to have their backs to me.

Do I also need a light triggered by motion? I have just an ordinary light that I switch on at the moment.
Question Author
So 20mp would be fine then 237?
And will I be able to watch it through my TV and/or laptop?
The Apeman that I have has an SD card which I then put into my laptop to download the images so yes you can watch the images/video
Question Author
Thanks 237. Does the camera provide the light when there's movement? Or do I have to buy a light with a motion sensor?
Mine have a video out connection that connects to a RCA (phono) (yellow) input if your tv has that, or by usb.

You can set the resolution lower than 20mp.

You don't need a light - when the camera is triggered the camera lights the area by infra red - thats why its in black and white.

As for my videos - no bats - just insects or rain drops.

You don't need to buy anything. The camera has an infrared camera ( night vision)
