Hi I purchased goods and paid for them on my card, not realising the card expires before the goods are due to be delivered (in three weeks), I should have activated new card but did not think!! No point ringing as due to covid you get only automated people, any idea what I should do? TIA

Nothing. The money would have been taken when you bought not when it's delivered.
Not necessarily. If it's taking 3 weeks because they're waiting for stock, it may be taken on the day of posting. Should be possible to check you account to see if it's gone though. Plus, if they can't get the money, they'll contact you soon enough.
You may be right but I'd be very surprised - who would go through the process of waiting for stock and setting up delivery without making sure they are paid for it first.
Earlier this year I ordered some raised beds for the back garden. I used a card that was within date. By the time the company got around to sending them (covid excuses) it was out of date and I got an e-mail from them.
I activate my card at a cash machine, just select balance enquiry. Then get card out without doing any other transaction.
Works for me.
Prudie - Amazon only take the money when the order had been packed and is ready for dispatch.
Ocado take payment 3 days after delivery, which I always thought was odd.
Many companies only take delivery on despatch.

Activate the new card and send the company an email explaining the situation and ask that you be resent the invoice so that you can pay with the new card.

thanks all, this is Apple for goods not due out for 3 weeks
Depends on the company. Some will take payment straight away; others just before the order is despatched. As for Ocado taking payment three days after delivery, I think you will find that is when it comes out of your account. It will be a pending payment.
If you have a account with Apple you should be able to put in new card details by logging in and accessing your account
