Hi does any ony know how you can get the black stuff of your hands that is inside a whisky barrel which I believe is called whiskey fungus? We have renovated a barrel but cannot seem to get the black stuff off of our hands.

Its more likely to be soot as they light fires in the barrels to enhance to oaky flavour. I would have thought washing up liquid would be your best bet, or if you want something more expensive something like Swarfega.
