My phone is a Motorola Moto G9 play, and I am very happy with it. It has a large screen, and a long battery life, and many consider the Moto G phones to be the best budget phones.
They are currently on sale at Argos for about £100. Could you afford that?
i bought a brilliant phone a Samsung A12, for about 147 quid from Amazon. Got the EE operative in the shop to change all my data over to new phone... great service.
I have a Samsung A21s. I paid around £140 for it and it works well, has a large screen and long battery life. A bit bigger than many phones but at least I can see the screen. That was sim free too.
Refurbished is as good as new. My iphone X was a hand me down and has served me perfectly well for a year. My ipad was from Apple Refurbished Store and had all the same warranty etc as a new one.
If you could tell us what your budget is, we may be able to suggest some phones for you??
You could take a chance and buy a used second hand phone off somewhere like Ebay, but you'll have no guarantee with it ..... on the other hand, a lot of firms sell refurbished phones that come with a guarantee.
For example, GiffGaff refurbished phones come with a 12 month guarantee:

If you are looking for a cheaper option, buying a used phone is the best choice. Buying a used phone can save you money and provide you with the same features as a new phone. However, if you are looking for a more expensive option, buying a new phone is the best choice. Buying a new phone will give you all of the newest features and technology that is out there.
