And do you remember the previous two-point ones which just went across the waist, weren't retractable so frequently got snagged up ?

Furthermore they weren't always pre-fitted, I remember fixing anchor points for them on my old Fiat 500.

I didn't know that. I never had to install my own, though; my first car, a Mini, may have had sliding windows, a high beam switch on the floor and a piece of string to open the door, but it had seat belts.

Yep them there two point safety belts were absolute rubbish, more trouble than they were worth.
