Tesco have refused to stock some Heinz products saying that they are concerned for their customers, as the price increase isn't justified in these difficult times. What a load of bull! If Tesco had their customers' interests at heart, they would take the same stance against their petrol suppliers. Tesco are always the first to put petrol prices up, then everyone follows. Within 7 days last week, Tesco put the price of petrol up by 3p, 4p and another 4p. 11p in a week. I bought my petrol from Tesco for years. They used to be one of the cheapest. Not any more. They now seem to be the biggest exploiters of the fuel situation. Smaller independents round here are selling petrol cheaper than Tesco. Morrisons and Asda are 3p cheaper. Bye bye Tesco.

If that isn't the reason, what is? Why do you think they are refusing to stock some Heinz products?
Question Author
They said they couldn't justify passing the price increases on to thier customers, which is sanctimonious bull. They should take the same stance against their petrol suppliers. I should say though that Heinz dispute what Tesco have said.
I applaud Tesco for their stance on Heinz products. On another thread about the rise in the cost of living, i told of visiting my local Farmfoods a few weeks back and purchasing a pack of 3 small tins of Heinz Baked Beans for £1.49. On my next visit, less than a week later, same pack was £2.
So why do you think they're not stocking some Heinz products?
Question Author
Yes but that's only one isolated spot, Ken. If they make it a nationwide thing, then I withdraw my OP!
Tesco cheaper than independents here.
Question Author
Naomi, the opening sentence of the OP:

//Tesco have refused to stock some Heinz products saying that they are concerned for their customers, as the price increase isn't justified in these difficult times.//
I know, clarion. What I'm asking is what other reason do you think they have for not stocking the Heinz products?
The likely scenario is the smaller independent garages, because they have a slower turnover than the larger supermarkets, are still selling the fuel bought at a cheaper price. Because the supermarkets turn over is far quicker they are constantly re-stocking at the latest prices and passing it on. The next time the independents restock, their prices will also increase quite dramatically.
Question Author
Why are you asking that, Naomi? I've said why they're refusing. I'm not aware of any other reasons. Are you aware of any other reasons?
Tesco will cave in and come to a compromise.
Heinz are facing rising costs and want to pass those costs to customers. So they have raised their prices. Tesco don’t want to pay, but will be losing sales to the other supermarkets. So they will soon restock Heinz products.
I have noticed my local supermarkets are a lot quieter than normal, anyone else seeing the same where they live ?
Yes, 10C, but if this was your local Tesco, you'd be lauding them rather than denouncing them.
Question Author
That hasn't happened round here, Vulcan. Independents have been cheaper for weeks now.
Clarion, I'm asking because you said the reason they give for not stocking Heinz products is a load of bull. Therefore they must, in your opinion, have another reason but I can't for the life of me think what that might be.
Question Author
I want them to take the same stance against ALL their suppliers, including their petrol suppliers. But if you think it's ok, then fine.
Clarion 2 people out of 6 have told you that tesco is cheaper than independents but you refuse to accept it - why is that?
Tesco is usually the cheapest for diesel in my area
