Leather Jackets in lawns!
2 Answers
Can someone please tell me if there is a chemical to kill leather jackets in lawns. I have asked numerous garden centres but have been told that all products have been withdrawn from the market.

It says "based on methiocarb, is an alternative to metaldehyde and research has shown that a light sprinkling raked into the soil surface will control woodlice, millepedes and leatherjackets".
I'm presuming that this product is also still around - do you still have the grubs now - I thought they would have all turned into Daddy Long Legs at this time of year? Any way I do hope you find something to rid you of these pests!
We have had a hatch of leatherjackets over the last week or so, so most are now daddy long legses. However, I try to get rid of them by putting some bread out on the lawn. The local marauding squadron of about 70 starlings invades the lawn and have a good poke around when the bread has run out! They get loads, aerate the lawn as well, but there still seem to be some left.
