I am not religious, I live alone with my dogs, I don't get any presents and don't give any or send cards, and certainly don't want to go and sit in someone else's house on Christmas day when I can spend time with my dogs. I have just spent about an hour deleting comments from people I don't even know wishing everyone a merry christmas - why don't people understand that for some of us it is just another day? I am not miserable, its just not my thing so sorry if that offends but go away and try to outdo other people with your fancy christmas decorations and messages! I am not impressed!

LOL....well said.
What sort of replies are you expecting from us, lankeela?
Dogs are by far the best friends one can have. Give them all a hug from me :)
LOL, me either,,
Cue the visit from 3 ghosts, Lanky :-))
Perhaps you'll get a visit from Jacob Marley tonight
Fair enough! I love my dog too and he always has a special Christmas dinner, but I also enjoy Christmas dinner with my sister and her family. Each to their own

If the messages aren't personal to you where are they coming from and where are you deleting them from? All in all, when they're sending Christmas greetings, people mean well. I don't suppose it occurs to them to say 'except for those who don't do Christmas'.
If I had a dog or a cat, I would stay at home with them too on Christmas day. I still haven't decided if I want to go where I've been invited to go tomorrow. It's not my thing either.
My dog is also invited out to dinner, so he's not left alone! There is a baby in the family this year (11 months) and we are all looking forward to his first Christmas.

Should have said messages on facebook/messenger - coming through on laptop and phone. Every time it pings I get nearer to putting it in my cup of tea!

No real answer needed but just wanted to remind others that not everyone appreciates the sentiments. Maybe I should claim to be from a country/culture that does not celebrate it?
// Every time it pings I get nearer to putting it in my cup of tea! //

That made me laugh. I'm so pleased I don't do Facebook/messenger.
We don't do Christmas but ìm happy that others do and like seeing all the lights etc. You sound quite bitter and bah humbug about it Lankeela. I still wish others a Happy Christmas. Each to his own. We did Christmas when we had a young child. That young child is now approaching 40 and doesn't do Christmas either.

We don't do anniversaries either, and avoid weddings!!

Then there are the emails from advertisers wishing me merry christmas when all they want to do is sell you stuff.

Mss T not so much bitter as cross that they don't consider other people's feelings - if they knew me they would know and if they don't know me why project their feelings on to me?
I/we dont do Christmas either(apart from watching Great Expectations). It just doesnt feel the same as it did in the past.Used to be you went out on a Christmas morning and there would be hundreds of kids milling about on their new bikes, girls pushing their new toy prams, boys playing with their new footballs or when it was snowing on their new sledges.Nowadays you go out on a Christmas morning-nothing,no kids,no nothing, not even the odd drunk staggering home from some xmas eve party, nothing.Rant over.
However, we don't go anywhere socially where the dog isn't included. And don't like people who don't like dogs. (Or other animals). Nowadays we just don't things we don't want to do.

"girls pushing their new toy prams, boys playing with their new footballs" careful ynna you will have the woke brigade spouting their gender equality gumph!
Like you Lankeela, I live alone, no family I'm in contact with, not religious, don't like Cliff Richard etc. I don't do decorations, tree or cards and expect nothing from anyone, but if I'm wished Happy Christmas by someone, I return the favour. No need for me to be rude to anyone about things.

I do pay lip service by having a Christmassy dinner (not turkey though, dry old stuff).
Lankeela, we didn't have the woke brigade in those days thank goodness.
