Why is Boris Johnson still.being picked up at home by a limousine with security guards present?

All former PMs get lifelong protection from the Met's SO1 Specialist Protection Branch for life (unless, of coure, they choose to do without it).

Other senior politicians can continue receiving protection for some time, depending upon risk assessments. (Geoffrey Howe, for example, continued to receive it throughout the rest of his life).

PS: A petition to make the provision of such security means-tested was started on the UK Parliament website in 2012, requiring 10,000 signatures to force discussion in Parliament. It got just 6 signatures.

When he visited he had 2 protection officers with him at all times
