Credit card purchases

Does anyone know of some kind of insurance that covers purchases made with a credit card?

I just bought something which has been water damaged only 10 days after buying it and i've been told there may be some way to claim for it through my credit card.

It depends on your credit card - some offer free insurance on purchases, most don't. You'll have to read your T&Cs or ring them to find out.

You sometimes are covered if your purchase cost more than �100 but I think this is more to do with faulty goods or companies going bust, not damage done by you.

Easiest thing to do - phone the cusotmer services of the credit card up and ask them. From memeory, Barclaycard do, but most companies constanty change their terms & Conditions, so easiest to give them a call.

Sorry but I think that the Credit Card companies cover the purchase of fauly goods. If it was damaged once you were using it then you would have to claim on your home insurance.

Gef - don't you remember the Barclaycard adverts with Rowan Atkinson - breaking and losing things that he had luckily purchased with his Barclaycard?

As I said, they certainly used to, but I do know that they have stopped a lot of their added benefits, and this may have been one of them.
