Who's Cash Are They Using.
I notice some of these charity shops especialy Barnardo's are in fact dealing in brand new items that have been bought in direct from manufactores. If they are using the funds from goods that have be donated to buy these new goods, is this not in a way gambling with these funds in the hope of increasing there turnover/ profits, or are the goods supplied on a sale or return basis? If its the latter then the shop is being used for private enterprize to make money when really the shop is not there for that purpose. Any thoughts?

19.26 All charity shops do this. I really dont think they do, most won't entertain such because it simply dont draw people in, the reason being it would just end up like walking into B&M store. It's mainly only Barnardo's. The idea of a charity shop is to make money yes, but also if you go in you never know whats in there that a real bargin. Not a new frying pan for £12/£15
No answer then so far? The point is,
no there is an answer - Charity Law has all this in hand - if you trade for a profit ( rather than a surplus, which is charitable) then you have to declare it in a different account to the tax man
and THEN the trustees GIFT it to the charity and get back the tax
Since HMRC wants proper stuff and not thruppences, there is a minimum amount
Trustees are not allowed to pay themselves, but clearly can employ people and pay wages so long as the work is charitable.

TTT, you accused another member of having another username. That is not acceptable.
If you have any concerns about anyone having more than one account, discuss it with the Spare Ed and not on here.
You then complained about the deletion and said the mod was biased but changed the spelling to make it more insulting.
That wasn't enough for you so you repeated it in the Ed's thread.
If you carry on, you'll be suspended.
