Hi there

About a week ago i purchased a refurbished mouse from a third party seller on Amazon.

Sadly it arrived broken so I contacted Amazon (chat window) who's said they'd refund the money and to keep the item. As the item was broken I threw it in the bid. Sadly, after a week no refund. After contacting them again and they said I'd have to send the item back before I'd get a refund. When I explained they said I'd have to send it back.. what can I do? It was £80.

£80 for a Mouse? Are you sure.

Should that have said something like £4.80?

You should request a copy of the chat history.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/privacy-central/data-requests/preview.html

Go to the above link and click on, "Data Request Category".

Then scroll to, "Customer Support Communication" which goes on to say,

"Customer support communication

This file contains information related to communications that you have had with Amazon Customer Service agents, including recordings of calls, transcriptions of chats and email interactions and the date and time of these interactions. In addition, if you’ve communicated with Marketplace Sellers using email, information about those interactions will also be included. Any retained attachments to emails will be included."

Then click on Submit Request

Have a look at what all was said and if they said,"keep it" it's up to you what you did with it.

Meant to add that I don't know how long it takes to provide the transcript.

The price of the mouse is irrelevant, it's getting the refund that matters.

Gaming mouse can easily cost over £150

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. I bought an rechargeable air inflator that stopped working after four months. The company selling it on Amazon were no longer trading.

I contacted Amazon by phone, they instructed me to dispose of the item and they would refund me. The money was back in my account in around four days. I have to say, I did keep hold of the inflator until I received the refund.

I would urge you to get back in touch with Amazon on 0800 2797234. I found them very helpful in reassuring me that I would definitely be receiving a refund.

Don't give up, you don't want to lose £80.

It's relevant in that I'd be very surprised if they just said bin an £80 item but might for a £5 one. but the key to this as we all agree is the transcript

newmod, they told me to keep a very expensive bread maker when they refunded me. I was annoyed because it meant a trip to the tip
