Can anyone recommend a portable MP3 player that will play audio books, either with a hard drive or a cd/dvd option.

It can be very small - hand held or simply one that can be easily carried.

Thanks in advance

my ipod mini will play audiobooks, you can either buy and download them through i tunes, or if you have them on cd, you load them onto your compluter into itunes and then put them on the ipod
Any MP3 can play audio books. Check what file type the book is, it should either end with .WAV or .MP3, if it is .WAV ipods won't play it, but a bog standard MP3 player should be able to play audio books

Which iPod mini is it exactly please Kazza ?

Potterfan - I have tried audio books on several mp3 players using MP3 and WAV and they don't work. It may be the way that audio books are recorded but I don't know as I have converted these files to just about every format I can without being able to play them.

iPods will play them very well. And this goes for any iPod.

if the book is in .wma format then as potterfan says, it will not play straight away on the iPod (it's a microsoft format, hence why it wont work). but, he neglects to say that iTunes will easily convert the .wma for you, into mp3, that all devices can play.
the only thing i can think of then is if an MP3 player has size restrictions for files or something
i have a 4 gig ipod mini which plays audiobooks
