I've got loads but I'll limit it to 5.

1. Paying by cheque
2. People who think think baskets only means a basket inside a trolley, cos they are too lazy to carry the basket.
3. People who do not move up the Q so they have an ever increasing gap in front of them and moan like mad when you overtake them. "Sorry I thought you where playing statues, this is a queue they only work when people move forward in them"
4. People who think 5 tins of beans is 1 item in the 8 items or less Q.
5. Some bloke the other day who asked for a packet of cigarettes at the normal till and instead of telling him to bog off the cashier had to get the supervisor to go to the cigarette kiosk, keep the rest of us waiting, still gave me plenty of time to tell him what an a55hole he was.

1, I hate shopping full stop.
I can guarentee when supermarket shopping my bloke and i argue about the silliest things, i think they must put something in the air to make everybody miserable in there. What really annoys me is old people - i know we all have to get old and i'm very sorry if this offends anybody BUT they have all the time in the world to go there so why go on a sat/sun/eve when normal working people have to go, dawdle along like they have all the time in the world (cos they have) then glare at you when you dare to say excuse me to get past, like you have just murdered a small child in front of them. My annoyances also include people just leaving a trolley and walking off so no ****** can get through and people blocking the aisles chatting to their long lost friends. I could go on really - screaming kids, people pushing in etc etc but i think you get the gist. Thats why I now do most of my shopping online.

My pet shopping hates.

The man/woman who produces mounds of vouchers at the till, not knowing which ones he/she can or cannot use.(out of date, wrong supermarket etc etc) So the poor cashier has to inspect every single one of them.

Pensioners who shop on Saturdays/Sundays. They have all week to go into town and they pick the busiest days to go round the shops for a mooch. Whats that all about!!!!!

I may add more later. :(

Hate shopping because of all the above: dont do it! Shop online, it saves loads of time, hassle and money!
The opposite to 3.
You are loading up the conveyor and the people behind you get right on top of you and start piling things up on the end of the checkout. Then once you are loaded up at the other end they are there lurking at 'your' end -chomping at the bit, as though standing over you whilst you are paying is going to speed things up.
Go away! Stop invading my personal space you freaks!

When the idiot with 25 items (but 24 items are all milk so only counts as 1) gets the the front of the 10 items or less queue, I hate the cashier who actually says 'Oh, I'll serve you on this occasion' instead of sending the t**ser to the correct till!

women who reach the checkout, wait til the total is announced. Then open handbag, extract purse, fish inside for money. Recieve change, sort into notes and coins, place in relevant compartment in purse. Pick up reciept and place in purse. Put purse in handbag, zip up handbag. Then move on.

Men who stand in front of shelves with mobile phone to ear, describing shelf contents to other half. For gods sake make a decision, pick up an item and move on.

People who leave trolley in middle of aisle whilst looking for something on the shelf.

People who block aisles with trolleys as they stand to chat!

People who park in disbaled bays as they only want a packet of fags or a paper.
Sorry loosehead but i cant possibly agree with number 2. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists, so cannot carry anything much heavier than a loaf of bread, so i put my basket inside the trolley to push. Why shoulkd i have to go to the non basket only ailses if i have 3-4 things, whereas people fill baskets with about 45 things flowing over the top can go in them?

I hope I'll never be near you in a supermarket.

I also hope you don't end up with a stomach ulcer with all your worries!

;o)

Sorry burnhal but i always put my change away before i leave the checkout and put my purse back in my bag. I dont have a car so i carry all my shopping home, so i need to put my money away otherwise im struggling holding 5 bags while trying to put my money away.

Ok Kazza, then don't go to the baskets only till and take the space of 3 people.

Bohne, is getting pi55ed off with idiots known to cause stomach ulcers?

Anyway another thing, do they pump some sort of gas into the air that removes 80% of motor/mental function? Asda looks like the set from a Zombie movie most of the time. Dawdling can't stand it!

I too have severe arthritis and a recently injured back. I put my shopping in a trolley and if there are only a few items I go to the baskets only till. My back injury makes it impossible to wait in a long queue - and, I am sorry, I too have to shop and eat.

What people seem to lack these days is patience! So you might lose five minutes of your precious day because an old lady is muddled about money, etc. etc. One day heaven forbid you will be old or infirm, you might find it difficult and need some help.

The worse people in supermarkets are arrogant men who think that because they only have two items they should be let in the queue!

None of us really like shopping, but people who have time to smile, offer help and just generally pass the time away by having a chat make it bearable.

And pensioners should be able to go shopping whenever they like, not when it is convenient for those that want to rush around. Have you ever considered that elderly people often have to rely on lifts to the supermarket because they can't get there otherwise.

Nice one Gessoo - I was starting to agree with some of the posts, and then you put it into perspective.

People take their time wandering around the aisles - no problem - but then get all impatient at the checkout. Why?

Well that really got everyone going didn't it? For all of the above reasons I am so glad I have started shopping online. It is worth every penny of the delivery charge not to have to go through all that every week. There is something about a supermarket queue that brings out the worst in all of us.

Good point about the pensioners but why do they choose to haunt the supermarkets and eat into my valuable lunch hour. Tell you what I'll stop moaning about all the above if you stay out of asda between 12 and 2, you can have the other 22 hours every day!
I wholeheartedly agree with Gessoo on this.People are always in such a hurry these days and have no time or patience with others less fortunate then themselves. So what if I only want a pint of milk and a loaf of bread. It's a free country.I am very fumbly fingered due to arthritis and forever grateful to the girl who helps to pack my shopping .Yes, I am approaching old age and I prefer to shop of an evening because it's not so busy and I am not being shoved from pillar to post by people who don't seem to have a minute to live.
ocado.com!

Well I often help both young, elderly or infirm folk in supermarket, by reaching up to shelves & lifting down items they can't reach. It only takes a few seconds & it makes be feel better for doing so.

I often end up getting into conversations with the elderly & infirm people at the checkout, then offer to carry their shopping to their car or taxi for them. Again this only takes a few minitues of my time.

Yes, people counting out their coupons & pennies at the counter can be frustrating & I've puffed myself at times, but when you think about it "What's a minutes in a man's life time?".

BTW, I'm a 'lady'!
