prom dress!!

im looking to ideally buy, but if neccesary hire a dress for my school prom in may. im very picky about my style, and tend to go for quirky things, and i like anything remotely carrie bradshaw-ish. im having trouble finding any dresses i like. i wanted either anything from the 20's through to the 50's, or something more modern, but a bit unusual. sorry, i realise how vague i am being! ebay is proving fairly unhelpful, any suggestions?

Don't know if you live near a TK Maxx store, my daughter got a fantastic fifties style prom dress there last year. Unfortunately due to the nature of the store you cannot guarantee what they have, a lot of her rfriends are looking now and they haven't had any luck. You need to visit weekly and be prepared to buy when you see something.

The dress was a snip at �35.00, the down side is we now need to get some shoes which is proving more difficult! She wants black, sparkly kitten heel pumps -sounds straightforward but no luck yet.

Have you tried deerhobbes designer ebay shop, ive just bought a prom dress off her, for my bridesmaid, its gorgeuse and came within 2 days of payment.
