you could give vouchers, or a case of nice wine, special whisky, or get something you could get engraved? for my uncles 50th I just made up an over 50s kit with hair dye, leather thong, denture cream etc. - reckoned it was his best present!

For my 50th I was given a days 4 x 4 driving experience. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Lots of other event type days to suit all tastes I'm sure.

Perhaps you could get together with some friends and organise a Surprise Party either in a local venue or just a small gathering in someone's house. If you can get hold of old photos of him/her over the years, scan them into a computer and print off some copies, laminate and cut them up and use as coasters for the evening. If you can get hold of enough photos, you could make up a sort of 'This is your life' album as a gift as well.

Also, do you have a novelty cake maker in your area? You could get a very personal cake made incorporating his/her hobbies and interests. Ideal for someone who has everything.

If it's a female, then I would suggest that vouchers for a local beauty salon or spa wouldn't go wrong.
