Where can I buy good second hand PlayStation?

Hi everyone. I want to get a playstation 2 for my hubby. Up until now he's played games on his Apple Mac. His favourite being Alice, Bolder's Gate and Myst/Riven (any recommendations for games similar to these also appreciated). I know nothing about playstations, so I haven't a clue what I should buy. Can anyone help. I was thinking about getting one off eBay, but there are so many it's confusing.

i wouldn't recommend a playstation 2 - like most sony stuff they only seem to last for about a year or two and then stop working... mine worked for a year and a month (very annoyed)... get him an xbox 360 instead

of course, Microsoft products are known for their ability to last and last and last ;)

BTW, I'd either get one off eBay that seems to be good, or more ideally go to a games store like "Game" or some independant one in your local high street. They tend to have some experts there too that can advise you about games.

i've never owned a sony product that worked well for very long (gave up with them after walkman, tv, stereo, playstation1, playsation 2 - it took a while to convince me i wasn't just unlucky) - i admit that this is just my opinion but like you that is all i have to offer... if you really want one then i agree with out sarcastic friend that ebay will get you cheapest but game will give you the ability to go back if it isn't working when you get it home etc.

I've had several sony items and never had any troubles. I do think this sort of thing can easily occur; we have had many things by Panasonic too, and never had a moment's trouble with them. But we have friends and family who we've recommended Panasonic products to who have had lots of troubles with their stuff.

are you sure the kind of game you are looking for is actually available for playstation 2 ?? you should check this first...

I've heard that there have been trouble with PS2's in early 2000 but later ones are much better. Xbox 360 still has problems with cooling the thing down (origianl chip ideas were ditched to speed up marketing and so leaving the chip controlling it getting hot...oh and power supplies need cool air too....I sold my PS2 recently (needed the money) with no troubles...you can get Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance / Demon Stone / Champions: Return To Arms for the PS2, all similar titles.

Ebay prices are stuck around �60 for just the console...maybe worth checking your local papers for people that have upgraded..maybe some bargains there !
