Upgrading from cassette to CD player, what do I get?

We have a Renault Scenic and I have seen for sale on Ebay Alpine multi-changers for it, now for the thick bit! if I got one of these would I still need to change the radio cassette to a cd player? or is the multi-changer the actuall cd player also? thanks.
