The best ones of all are available in Boots and they are wax and mould to the shape of your ear, I think they are called muffles, I take them on planes and whenever I go to a hotel where I am not sure if I will be kept awake by people crashing in and out of rooms at funny hours.
PS They come in a box of quite a few
Ebay - loads on offer.

Assuming this is a serious question ;)

Buying them at Boots or whatever ends up very expensive if you want a lot. Go to an industrial safety supplies company. You'll get a big box of them for far less (each) than anywhere on the High Street. They will probably also have a choice of different quality and sound reduction, as well. Or there's loads of similar companies on the web.

Perhaps you could try to persuade her to buy a practice drum kit.

Cheaper than a standard kit, and less noise!
Any motorbike shop. You can get a big bag for about a fiver.
the best thing would be to get noise cancelling headphones - earplugs might get uncomfy after a while.

I've had to invest in some for the boyfriend's snoring.

Have tried loads but I always come back to Superdrug's own - 1.50 for a pack of 3. You sqeeze and roll them to fit in your then they expand inside, can't hear a thing - bliss!

We bought our son an electric drum kit for Christmas which is great as he can put his headphones on and drum along to whatever he likes without us hearing it. (Very useful as we live in a terraced house!). Maybe you could ask your neighbour if this is the kind of drum kit she's getting.

thanks everyone

I have a drum kit my parents bought me it for xmas when i was 17, i put it up in my bedroom, we informed the neighbours and they were ok but obviously asked me to keep it down, no problem. I put a towel on the bass drum to muffel the sound and you dont have to hit the drums really hard to get the noise out of them. I didnt get any complaints

Chances are she is just using it to practice in the house so wont be banging the hell out of it she'l just be learning the basics.

Let her know that you are fine about it but could she try respect her neighbours. im sure she will make some effort to keep the noise down.
