Connecting a tv, dvd/vcr and satellite receiver
My tv, vcr/dvd player and satellite receiver are connected as follows:-
The aerial is connected to the satellite receiver.
Two scart leads from the satellite receiver, one to the tv and one to the vcr/dvd player.
Two rf leads from the vcr/dvd player, one to the tv and one to the satellite receiver.
With these connections everything has been working ok. Yesterday I upgraded to a vcr/dvd recorder and the user guide recommended the following set up:-
Connect the aerial to vcr/dvd recorder.
Two scart leads from vcr/dvd recorder, one to the tv and one to the satellite receiver.
One rf lead from vcr/dvd recorder to tv.
Everything works ok with regards to recording programmes etc except when the vcr/dvd recorder is switched on the tv switches to the av channel and the tv remote control is unable to switch back to the analogue channels. I phoned the help line number for the vcr/dvd recorder and the assistant said there is a problem with the tv that needs repairing.
My question is this is there a best way to connect these 3 appliances ie if I connect the new vcr/dvd recorder in the same way as my old vcr/dvd player instead of the recommended way will I cause any damage and if I do connect in this way and the problem with my tv continues then does my tv need repairing or can anybody suggest a possible alternative.
Sorry for the long winded explanation but any help will be appreciated.
