Is it actually impossible to order something, agree a price and a delivery date and the other party honour these commitments?

Dot , don't worry it was a tongue in cheek question to stop me from going 'postal' about another delay on my sofa. Order 31st December expected delivery now first weeks of June AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh.

Also flooring co driving me mad.

New bed frame - are you sure? we don't make that in that size.

There should be a Samaritans hotline for shopping!

many moons ago, 24 actually, i was a Furniture sales Consultant in the House Of Fraser, and a 5 month delivery for a Sofa was shocking then! delivery was usually 6-8 weeks! Where on earth is it being made, most were made in the South of England back then..

Being made in Italy, it is a very unusual combination, fits the lounge perfectly ( or I would have made alternative placement arrangements long ago!! ) I could have walked the thing here faster than Sea freight, and it is expected to take a couple of weeks for the stuff to clear customs. Initial date was twelve weeks ......... The German leather recliners arrived six weeks early from the same store, same day! Finding it tough to be nice about it now though!

With any order, if you specify on the order form that "Time is of the essence" it means that if the order is even a few minutes late being delivered, then you have the legal right to cancel the whole thing. Funnily enough, when you do this, whatever you've ordered tends to turn up on time!
