huskavarna: Huskylock 90 overlocker
3 Answers
Hi there,
Just wondered if anyone could tell me why oh why oh why my overlocker is so blimmin temperamental? It is only 2 years old, I bought it brand new and since day one it has been like this. It has been back to the shop over and over, but whenever they look at it, they can't find anything wrong with it.
last week I made two satin ball gown dresses for my two daughters and it worked a real treat, It has never sewn better. The dresses were gorgeous, i was very smug.
However, today, I go to start making a simple poly-cotton summer dress for my daughter's birthday and the wretched thing just won't work properly. I've re-thread it, altered the tension, swept out the dust turned it off and on again (a la computer engineer) and it is just isn't working.
Please help me. Tips on why machinery does this please and what can i do to fix it... I have already cut all the dress pieces out and did try leaving them on the work bench with the vain hope that elves might come along and stitch them for me, but i think all the elves are busy at shoe maker shops today so I need to do it myself.
Many thanks
mimi

I have a Brother overlocker and it's been fine - I had problems like this with one of my Brother machines before though, and I ended up throwing the stupid thing away. I think the problem was with the tension discs needing oiled or something. It's so annoying when machines wont work when you know they CAN!
Well they are notoriously temperamental however I don't think this is really acceptable, I think I would be asking for a replacement or something, I think a letter to the Managing Director of where you bought it might be a good idea. If you do this regularly maybe you should look at getting an industrial one ??
The answer seems to be obvious to me, make everything with the satin ball gown material !!!
Seriously, if it works well with one material but not another then the problem is getting the various tensions correct for each particular material, this can only be a trial and error thing, but my wife does try to stick to a particular type of material just because of the hassle of getting the machine right again.
