I lived in Sheffield for 20 years and I'd have no problem with recommending Westfield to someone. It's not one of the 'posh' areas, like Dore, Abbeydale, Fulwood, Ranmoor or Grenoside but, equally, it's not one of the 'rough' areas like . . . . (er, on second thoughts, I won't list those, in case one of their residents turns up on my doorstep with a baseball bat!).
Years ago, a journey to the city centre meant a long and tedious bus ride of over an hour. Now it takes about 40 minutes on Supertram's blue line, so Westfield isn't as 'isolated' as it once was.
You don't say where you'll be moving from but, if you're from outside of the area, I can thoroughly recommend Sheffield as a warm, welcoming city. (I only went there to go to college and I ended up staying there for 20 years!).
