Gas cooker / general lighters

I have purchased several of the 'ong gas type lighters with the electric spark ignition EG Ronson from Tesco, only to find there is never quite a decent enough flame for say outdoor use eg bbq's. they also deteriorate after a short while and never produce as good a flame as new even after a refill. Can anybody recommend a good one ? it must be quite long to reach the gas oven element.
