Henry vs Dyson
19 Answers
Because of the glowing reviews I got myself a Henry rather than a Dyson.
Damn it, it's hard work.
A Dyson, or any upright, will just glide along on its wheels but Henrys brush is hell on earth to push along the carpet. It also only goes one way, if I pull it back the brush lifts off the carpet. If I raise the bristles it just sticks to the carpet like a leech and doesn't pick up a thing.
I'm seriously considering asking Comet if they'll let me trade up to a Dyson DC15.
Are Henry fans just made of stonger stuff?

The Dyson for indoors and Henry for my hubby`s workroom, the garage and summerhouse, so we never use the carpet brush. Each has their own merits, but I certainly wouldn`t want to use henry around the home...give me an upright every day for that.
We did once have a George too...he made it possible to wash carpets, but it was too much like hard work....he went to..well never mind where he went, it was a long time ago!

I have always had dogs and this one is a golden labrador and he is continually leaving his hair on carpet . I have had my second dyson few years now and it is the only one that has picked up all the hairs.Nothing wrong with my first Dyson my son is still using that.Wouldn't have any other now as Dyson is so easy to use.
I hope Comet will swap it then.
Considering I've used it I'm not holding out much hope.
It's also annoying that their instore price for the DC15 is a whopping 250, whereas their net price is 228.
I'm also after a fridge, cooker and washer drier so perhaps that'll give me some leverage.
It's gonna be an expensive couple of weeks.

I've experience of Dysons. I've been using my parents DC01 for years and it's been fine. When there have been problems Dyson have promptly sorted them out.
Now I'm moving out I need a vacuum cleaner of my own. I only opted for the Henry because it got better reviews and was far far cheaper.
Heathfield, can I ask how it made your wife cry?

I really don't know what the fuss is about Henry's - I've had one for the 4 years - and has never let me down and vacuums exactly what I want it to do ie. carpets.
My wife ran her own cleaning business for a while and hated doing the households that had a Dyson - pure Sh*te she said they were - and after using one myself I could'nt agree more.

I think this all comes down to peoples likes and dislikes. It is like a car I won't have anything else but a Ford don't ask me why as I don't know the first thing about cars just where the oil and water goes.I would never buy a Henry, dont ask me why.So if and when I need another hoover it will be another Dyson.
We had the very first Dyson with one or two problems. We have also had an 07 which was an absolute nightmare, would turn off after vacuuming a room and not start up again. It was more often in the factory than at home SOOOO we looked at the web and everyone was praising the Henry. We bought one. MASSIVE MISTAKE. I have a problem with my back and just couldnt use it as its so hard to push on anything but laminate, wood or wool carpets. So its back to the drawing board.
We have a very hairy collie so need something fast before we disappear under all the hair. Any suggestions????
