I would like to buy a Sat Nav system (for a car) as a present but which is not too expensive and which is reliable, accurate, with clear voice directions and works with postcodes. Proper (free?) installation would be good as well! Does anyone have particular recommendations? Many thanks, Jem66
I have just bought a Navman F20 - it's just come out on the market, and from what i can tell, is great. Its a lot slimmer than a tom tom, so easy to carry in your bag. Even has two buttons - one that will direct you to the nearest place to park and the other to the nearest petrol station - if you ever happen to get a bit stranded! It was about 140. Hope that helps! x
You can't beat Tom-Tom. I bought one for my friend two Christmas' ago, he liked it so much he got himself the newer version and I've got the old one! I
t's great for getting to the most difficult places - he visits farms & locations without proper addresses it has never let him down yet. You can select which voice you want to talk to you or switch it off, the graphics are clear and you can have a night view. You can find a location with postcodes or addresses or ask it find you a route to avoid certain roads.
It's portable not fixed so very easy to use.
Word of warning with any Sat Nav - don't leave it in your car EVER, sat navs have caused the biggest increase in thefts from motor vehicles in the past 12 mths+ don't leave the fixing cradle in place either cos theives will break into your car to see if you've hidden it under the seat or in the glovebox.
Apologies, i' before e except after c', I spelt thieves incorrectly! Forgot to say you get free updates from their website of road changes and you can load a system which warns you you are approaching speed cameras, not that you'd be speeding of course...!
