pongy espadrilles

Hmm, strange one but I feel I need help. I am wearing espadrilles today (yes I know!) and even though I dont have smelly feet these shoes are pongy everytime I put them on.

Any suggestions as to how to freshen them up seeing as they are 'open' shoes?

Hi Liquidspace, I know what you mean! I have a pair that are relatively new, and can't where them for very long as they start to pong something awful and my feet never smell ! I found it really embarrasing one night in the summer while out as I could constantly smell them ! So because of this I hardly wore them as it put me off.

I await anyones remedies for this one though with baited breath. :)

Sorry cant help mine are exactly the same, I have sprayed them with Oust and Febreeze - worked for about 1hour, washed them in the washmachine - worked for about an hour. Not sure why it is, think maybe the cotton lining absorbs whatever odours are given off. But yes it is embarrassing, when on holiday this year I had to tie them together and hang them out the window!
