i am strangely drawn to sainsburys for a job, i want to fill shelves, does anyone know if they take on full time people or only part time in sainsburys as I seem to find all the supermarkets i have asked in so far will only take part time workers.

why don't you do part-time at sainsburys, and part-time as tesco... that way everybody's happy...?

I just needed a bit of a push - I'm stuck in a terrible job at the mo, I'm 45 and need something to make me do something about it as I it makes me feel that life is passing me by in this dreary hole I call my workplace !
I'm badly lacking in confidence too, but now I know some people do actually have full time jobs there, that's made me feel better, I will go and ask for an application form and get the ball rolling.

Hi arburgirl,

I used to work in sainsbury's. At this time of year they will only be looking for 'part-time' as they want to keep thier options open. Chances are you may be able to do the equivalent of full time until after new year. If you do well, and they like you, they can make you a permanent member of staff (and full-time). You may find that supermarkets will not want you working at other supermarkets at the same time (conflict of interest). I used to work on checkouts and the time went slowly. I worked in grocery/frozen/chilled stacking shelves at times and found it more enjoyable. You generally get left to your own devices and can look at a well-dressed isle when you are finished with an element of pride. Best of luck!

Thats what I thought about working for two companies at once, also its getting between the two in time for the shifts !.

I agree with you about feeling of pride when you have made the disply look good, i used to work at a wavy line shop years ago and was in charge of the yogurts and chilled stuff. At the moment I get no praise whatsoever (not that I look for it) and not even a good atmosphere in the office, actually a very negative one, so i know that a new job in a brighter atmosphere will be so much better for me.
