It's Secret Santa time at work. As I work with a team of Occupational Therapists I bought some "Racing Grannies" ( little wind up toys) I know this is not PC but I thought it may raise a laugh. The OT whose name I pulled has a wicked sense of humour - but also has rheumatoid arthritis. Am I being totally insensitive if I give these to her?
no, if as you say she has a wicked sense of humour, she will love them, its good to laugh at things that would otherwise make us cry , laughter is the key remember.
Sorry, submitted before I finished !
Not insensitive at all. I can understand your concern but given your profession, she will undoubtedly encounter (and occasionally laugh at ) others who have far worse or similar to herself.
It is human nature - and good therapy- to laugh!
Go for it !
It takes more effort to frown than laugh, and laughter is the greatest medicine, while you are laughing your worries vanish fo r little while,so go for it,it isn't insensitive at all., hello larkin and devilwoman !!
I've seen those grannies.. They are funny. I think you should give the present. Its my experience people who work in the health services have to have a sense of humour and usually do!
alibops you have done that female thing that i dont understand and found a problem from nowhere. what is the non pc thing about wind up grannies[ do they do a silly little fast walk and wee . better still pull the string in their backs and they stink]. are these racing grannies offensive to grannies or is it deemed insensitive to those of us who dont have grannies. take the winder out of a couple and they could reprisent the dead ones- voila - pc prob solved
