Abercrombie & Fitch - how to check authenticity

I've read somewhere that it's possible to go on the Abercrombie website and enter code that appears on the clothing tag - apparently this will confirm if the item is genuine or not. Does anyone know if this is true? I've had a look at the A&F website but couldn't see anything on there.

The reason I ask is because I've seen some A&F clothing for sale on Ebay and I'm interested in bidding...but I'm not too keen seeing as even the fakes come with tags these days.

Any info much appreciated.
