how come when you ask one of the price comparison websites for an insurance quote, sometimes a broker comes up with the best price (if the company they get the quote from is not on line how do they manage to quote you so quickly)

Some brokers have the authority to issue quotes on behalf of a company - they don't have ask, they already have the prices on their own computer.
