Are the shops closed on Easter Sunday? Is it like Christmas Day?

mostly all shopping centres will close for easter sunday but some high street shops should stay open.

Should stay open??? Why?? Because 70+ hours a week of shops being open isn't long enough? Very sad.

I totally agree with Reverandfunk. It`s only 2 days a year that they all close, Xmas Day & Easter Sunday. What with 24 hour supermarkets & late night opening on the hight street, is n`t that enough hours???? What did people do when shops opened 9 - 5:30 Monday - Saturday with a half day in the week??? ........ Manage very well.

Yes they are closed ,only the small shops are open .

No the small shops aren't closed - I work in one and we are open all day unfortunately.

I was under the impression that it was against the law to open onEaster Sunday. I know around here there`s no shops whatsoever open.

Shops with a trading area of over 280 square metres can only open for a maximum of 6 hours on a Sunday. However, they can't open at all on Easter Sunday. (Normally, they can open on Christmas Day but not when it falls on a Sunday).

Smaller shops can open every hour of every day, throughout the whole year:

So, next Sunday, all of the big stores (including food stores such as Tesco and Asda) will be closed. Some small shops might choose to open.

Apologise for the error. I do know that everything will be closed around here. About the only thing open will be McDonalds.

Thanks for all answers, but I'm still confused. Our Tesco is huge and it's open Sunday as is Carpetworld. Next, Argos, Boots and there's all fairly big stores. There are signs outside today saying they are.
