Can anyone recommend a really good pair of Straighteners that are cheaper than GHDs? My old GHds bllew up ( literally) this morning and I can't afford a new pair. Seems as though it will be BHD from now on - I can't believe how reliant I've become on them!

sorry to butt in on your question, but yes i need a new pair too desperately, ones that hot up as soon as they are turned on like at the hairdressers.
Can't even imagine buying others now I've had GHDs weeblackcat. I had a cheaper pair first and they were rubbish, just love my GHDs - had them about 3 yrs now so expect I'll have to buy new ones soon!
i dont think any exist! i my GHD's broke and i borrowed my friends pair of babyliss, cost her 80 quid but they were no where near as good so if ur gunna go cheaper be prepared to be disappointed as once uv had GHD's u'll never go back!

its hard because the new ghds have come out the old ones r hard to find (plus the new 1s r super expensive!)
the cheapest ghds ive found are here http://www.compareghds.co.uk/wide/wideprices.h tml

and thats for the wide plated ones

i got mine a good few months ago (originals) from website called beauty sleuth for 60 somehing but even their prices are upped now.

to be honest id rather spend money on ghds than a pair that aren't as good for you because you've become so used to ghds!
My Tesco value straightners are the only ones I know! They seem to do the trick and heat up really fast. 9.99
Hi weeblackcat
GHD's have a fault with them as I was told by my Hairdresser. They do tend to blow up at the end of the cord and they have always had this problem.
I use Wella pro straight. You can purchase them at any Hairdresser, or most hairdressers. They cost about 40. I have very wavy hair and I do not use anything else except them.
jml are very good from woolworths and try rimmingtons they are great .
I have some Andrew Collinge straighteners and they are brilliant.x
Yep - absolutely recommend Tesco own ceramic straighteners, heat up really fast, easy to use, excellent value for money at 9.99 - they look like GHDs too !
FHI's - not quite as expenisive as GHD's and a hell of a lot better x

Thanks to all who asnswered - have purchased a pair of FHIs after serious web surfing for tips - I'll feedback how good they are when they arrive!
Thanks again x
i think it varies for everyone and depends what you look for, speed, shine, temperature blah blah...i had some 'hai stik' straighteners for 5 years before ghd's really came onto the market and i swore by them. like you, when they eventually broke i tried to find ghd ones but cheaper. i was always anti ghd until i borrowed my sisters ghd's for a week, and then tried two other brands thats claimed to be as good as them but at less than half the price - i sent both pairs back and i'm currently utterly in love with my ghds :) i got soooo many compliments the first time i used them yet i wear my hair straight everyday!!

anywho, let us know how you get on!!
try the vogetti pro black and red straighteners they like ghd are also a professional salon only straightener and give great results and are alot cheaper
