chess club in essex

I'd like to get back into chess but i dont know anyone i can play with apart from computers does anyone know of chess clubs in essex i can join?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The list of ECA clubs seems to be almost exclusively based on that part of Essex which is on the edge of London. There are plenty of other chess clubs in Essex, which are not ECA affiliated.

Even if there's not a league club near to you, there may be a 'social' chess club (i.e. one where members play each other, rather than competing against other clubs) in your area. While the internet is a great source of information, your local library is far more likely to be able to put you in touch with your local club.
